Exposed: HIV+ Naval Officer drags wife to court to revealing his status

A top Naval officer who is HIV positive and equally infected his wife has dragged her to court for exposing him.

A top Naval Officer, Lt. Cdr. Kazeem Owolabi Emiabata, has dragged his wife, Titilayo,  to a court in Ogun State for allegedly making his HIV positive status public and exposing him to ridicule.

PoliticsNGR reports that Cdr. Emiabata who is currently serving at the Barrack Maintainance Unit, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, was angry that his wife whom he allegedly infected with the virus and threw out of his house had to make his status public.

It was gathered that trouble started after the 30-year-old Titilayo discovered his anti-retroviral drugs and medical records, which showed that he had been on treatment for a long period without disclosing his status to her.

The worried woman was said to have confronted her husband over the discovery and later went for a test where it was confirmed that she too had been infected.

However, Cdr. Emiabata had allegedly threatened to deal with her if she exposed his HIV status but she defied him and went public about her predicament.

Her husband did not find this funny as he reportedly used the police to arrest her when she went to his house to pack her personal belongings, accusing her of stealing and housebreaking.

Titilayo was said to have been detained for four days and arraigned in court on August 24, 2017, on a 10 count charge bothering on burglary, housebreaking and stealing by the police in Ogun State.

It was further learned that the case titled 'Commissioner of Police, Ogun State vs Mrs. Titilayo Emiabata', was adjourned to Thursday, September 21, to be heard by Senior Magistrate E.O. Idowu at the Chief Magistrate Court in Ago-Iwoye area of the state.
