We need hard work and commitment to win Ondo - Oyegun

– Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has said that the ruling party will defeat the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in thw forthcoming Ondo guber poll 

– Oyegun said Ondo state was very important to the federal government which is why the APC must take over the state from the PDP in 2017 

– The national chairman said that the candidate of the APC for the forthcoming poll,  Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN), was valuable to the national leadership of the party

Ahead of the November 26 governorship election in Ondo state, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has said that the ruling party will defeat the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
 Oyegun during the governorship campaign of the APC on Thursday, November 10, at the Democracy Park in Akure said Ondo state was very important to the federal government, adding that this was the reason why the APC must take over the state from the PDP in 2017.

The national chairman said that the candidate of the APC for the forthcoming poll,  Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN), was valuable to the national leadership of the party. 
The rally had in attendance the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal; state governors of Ogun, Plateau, Borno, Benue, Sokoto and Bauchi, bikunle Amosun, Solomon Lalong, Kashim Shetima, Samuel Ortom,  Aminu Tambuwal and Mohammed Abubakar.

Other dignitaries present at the event include the Minister of Communications, Adebayo Shittu; Minister of Solid Minerals, Dr. Kayode Fayemi; Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole; Minister of Labour and Productivity, Dr. Chris Ngige; Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Lasun Yussuff, among others. 
Oyegun while presenting the flag of the party to Akeredolu, charged the party members and supporters to collect their Permanent Voter Cards in order to enable them to vote in the forthcoming election. 
He said: “To oust the party in power, it requires hard work and commitment. Let us go out and work hard to win this election. We are here to let you know how important Ondo State is to the Federal Government and also to let you know how valuable our candidate, Akeredolu, is to us. Let us work hard and by the grace of God, we will win the election.”
Akeredolu addressing a mammoth crowd of party supporters from the 18 local government areas of the state urged all the members of the party to join hands with him to win the election. 
Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari says the 2019 elections should be forgotten if a peaceful election cannot be successfully conducted in one state. 
Speaking on the backdrop of the forthcoming election in Ondo state and River states, Buhari directed the security agencies to do their utmost in ensuring violence-free elections in the respective states.
