Anthony Joshua met Nigeria’s Minister of Sports Solomon Dalung just after his win against Carlos Takam on Saturday, October 28.

There was Nigerian support as usual as Sports Minister Dalung made the trip to watch the Nigerian-born boxer.

After the fight, the boxer met with the minister backstage and posed for photos with him.

Also with Dalung for the trip to the Principality Stadium was the Deputy Governor of Ogun State Her Excellency Mrs Yetunde Onanuga where Joshua’s parents come from.

I have conveyed the goodwill message of his Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari to him when we met after the fight,” Dalung said in a statement on his Facebook.

“I imperatively made him understand how much the government and the people of Nigeria are proud of his achievements as our son.”

Joshua’s parents are from Sagamu, Ogun State and the boxer hugely identifies with his Nigerian roots.

The 28-year-old used a Nigerian song, 'Ojuelegba' by Wizkid as one of his entrance songs ahead of the fight.
