Home owner charter: No qualified applicant will be left out
Ogun State government has assured all qualified applicants under its Home Owner Charter (HOC) Programme of receiving their land title documents before the end of the present administration.
Governor Ibikunle Amosun made this known during the 21st batch of distribution of Certificate of Occupancy and other land title documents to successful applicants at Obas Conference Hall, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
‘’No applicants was edged out except for the reasons that they were not qualified. For instance, those who built on government lands meant for housing, agric and industrial purposes were not qualified for the scheme as well as those who build on oil pipelines,’’ he said.
Amosun, who was represented by the Commissioner for Urban and Physical Planning, Mrs Ronke Sokefun, said government would not renege on its promise to ratify the homeownership of the applicants notwithstanding its huge financial implications in the face of current socio economic challenges, assuring that government would sustain the distribution bi-monthly.
He enjoined those applicants who are yet to receive their C of O not to lose hope in the scheme but keep faith with government and be confident that it would fast track the processes for timely distribution.
Director General and Special Adviser, Bureau of Lands and Survey, Mr. Biyi Ismail said the State government has been consistent in giving out C of Os to successful applicants for several months, nothing that the scheme was bound to fulfil its purpose as those who could not afford the process of obtaining regular C of O have continued to benefit.
He however congratulated the recipients and enjoined them to propagate the scheme in their localities by enjoining them to respond promptly to calls by agencies working on HOC.
Two of the applicants, Mr. Paul Egbedu and Mr. Kola Yaya Sule, in separate interviews, commended government for the new initiative to distribute the documents twice a month, saying the present administration had done well in authenticating their homeownership.
