Iheanacho hopes he can get many goals for Leicester City following his strike against Leeds United.

Nigerian forward Kelechi Iheanacho is delighted after scoring his first goal for Leicester City.

Iheanacho netted the first goal, an equaliser in their 3-1 win over Leeds United in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday, October 24.

I’m pleased to get on the scoresheet today,” Iheanacho told LCFC TV.

It was a great goal so I’m happy to get a goal and help the team to go to the next round.

I wanted to take it with my right foot but I wasn’t too sure, so I got it back onto my left foot and put it into the corner.

It means a lot to me. I’m happy to get my first goal and I hope there are many more to come in the future,” he concluded.

The 21-year-old showed great composure for his goal against Leeds United, reacting quickly to get to the ball after a poor clearance from the goalkeeper.

Despite the goalkeeper out of his line and Leicester City fans urging him to shoot, the Nigeria international calmly controlled the ball to his left foot before slotting into the bottom right corner from 20 yards out.

He also assisted Leicester City’s next goal, picking a pass at the corner before finding Islam Slimani with a pass get themselves in the lead.

His performance against Leicester City will be pleasing to the fans who have seen the former Manchester City star struggle since his £25m move to the King Power Stadium.
