MFM FC: NPFL club gets N50M from Lagos State Governor Ambode
N25m is a reward for their CAF Champions League qualification while the other N25m is to execute the games.
Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side MFM FC have received the sum of N50M from Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode.
MFM FC who are based in Lagos had a brilliant 2017 season, finishing second in the NPFL to qualify for the CAF Champions League.
The team paid a visit to the Lagos State House in Ikeja where they met with Governor Ambode.
During the state visit, Governor Ambode pledged the sum of N50m to the club.
According to Godwin Enakhena who is the sports administrator of MFM worldwide, N25m is a reward for their CAF Champions League qualification while the other N25m is to execute next season’s continental games.
MFM FC had a brilliant season, taking the NPFL title challenge to the wire. They had a chance of winning the title until the last day.
Next season, they will be competing for the CAF Champions League and the Lagos State Government have concluded plans to ensure that the Agege Township Stadium, home of MFM FC is in proper shape to host the continental games.
Ambode has directed the Lagos State Commission to ensure the Soccer Temple is in good shape to meet up with the CAF standards before the inspection in December 2017.
