Super Falcons: WAFU Women’s Cup to kick off February 14
All is set for the Super Falcons first competitive match since December 2016
The West African Football Union (WAFU) has scheduled the groupings for the inaugural WAFU women's cup which of to kick off on Wednesday, February 14.
The draws were held yesterday at the host country Cote d'Ivoire, where the eight participating West African countries were drawn in two groups.
The top two teams in each group would progress to the semi-final, the losers would compete for the classification of third and fourth place while the semi-final winners would to battle in the final of the competition.
Groupings
In group A, hosts Ivory Coast are grouped alongside Niger Republic, Burkina Faso, and Ghana
While in group B, the Falcons would battle neighbors Benin Republic, Senegal, and Togo
The competition which is the first edition is scheduled to kick off on valentines day February 14 through to February 24.
The Super Falcons are yet to play a competitive match since their triumph at the African women nations cup in December 2016, and with star player Asisat Oshoala requesting for more matches for the Falcons, the WAFU cup would be an ideal preparatory tournament
The Super Falcons are still without a coach since the dismissal of Florence Omagbemi.
