A 20-year-old, Sunday Abraham, who allegedly defiled a 10-year-old girl, is to cool his heels in prison for the next 22 days, an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court ruled on Monday.

The Magistrate, Mrs Modupe Afeniforo, who did not take the plea of the accused, said he should remain behind bars until the next date of adjournment.

The accused, whose address was not provided, is facing a charge of defilement.

Earlier, Police Prosecutor Oriyomi Akinwale alleged that the accused committed the offence on March 3 at 10.30 p.m. at Oke-Ako in Ikole Local Government Area.

‎Akinwale said the accused had pounced on the girl who was on an errand and dragged her to his room before defiling her.‎

The offence contravened Sections 31 of the Child’s Right Law of Ekiti State 2012.

The magistrate adjourned the case until April 2 for mention. (NAN)
