Drake, Nice for what: 5 things you should know about rapper's new video 'Nice for What'

Canadian rapper, singer and songwriter, Aubrey Graham popularly known as Drake recently released the visuals to his song ‘Nice for what’.

Shortly after Drake announced at a concert that he will be putting out a new single, he subsequently released the visuals to the song ‘Nice for what’.

 

Drake has been on an amazing run following the donation of his entire budget for his ‘God’s Plan’ music video. His music of late has been appealing to a larger dynamic of music listeners as he has made it very easy to listen to with relatable story lines and melodic vibes.

The formula stays the same with 'Nice for what', a joint where he samples Lauryn Hill’s classic ‘Ex-factor’. The video which was released almost immediately is more enchanting with a star studded Hollywood cast and one that fans the embers of female power. It is definitely another spectacle with fun scenes that has won the hearts of many.

Here are 5 things you should know about the video;

1. The video features 20 women including a star-studded list of famous actresses and musicians

 

The video captures at several times a total of 20 women filmed separately. A roll call of the women include Olivia Wilde who is best known for her role as Dr Remy Hadley on the medical drama TV series, ‘House’, Misty Copeland, Issa Rae, Rashida Jones, Jourdan Dunn, Tracee Ellis Ross, Tiffany Haddish, Yara Shahidi, Zoe Saldana, Letitita Wright, Bria Vinaite, Emma Roberts, Syd, Michelle Rodriguez, Elizabeth and Victoria Lejonhjarta.

2. The video was directed by 22-year-old Karena Evans

 

Toronto native Karena Evans was also responsible for the ‘God’s Plan’ video. She is also the first female recipient of Canada’s highest honours for music direction, The Lipsett Prize for her ‘innovative and unique approach to music video art’

3. Yara Shahidi, who features in the video wearing a Harvard top and studying hard is actually a Harvard student.

 

The 17-year-old actress, activist and Black-ish star was recently accepted into Harvard University as a Social studies major.

4. Zoe Saldana is featured at home with her 3 kids

 

In the video, Zoe Saldana who has a thing for keeping her children’s faces hidden despite constantly putting their pictures up on Instagram is featured with her 3 children, the twins Cy and Bowie and newborn, Zen

5. The video was shot across 10 cities

 

The video which is a celebration of women everywhere, their strengths and successes captured across various fields and professions. The ladies featured in the video all have a connection at one time or the another with the rapper and were all filmed separately across over 10 cities in the United States.
