Junior Ajayi continued his impressive form for Egyptian champions Al Ahly.

Super Eagles striker Junior Ajayi was on target for Egyptian champions Al Ahly in their 2-1 win over Tanta on Monday, April 2.

Ajayi returned to Al Ahly after being part of the Super Eagles 2-0 defeat to Serbia in an international friendly game.

Ajayi and his teammates are already crowned Egyptian champions before the close of the league but had a home game against a relegation-threatened Tanta.

Ajayi opened the scoring for Al Ahly in the 61st minute and their lead was doubled in the 86th minute through Marwan Mohsen before a consolation goal for Tanta in the 90th minute through Mohamed Gaber.

Ajayi posted on his official Twitter account to celebrate his goal against Tanta with a message that said, “Coming from international friendly and continue to mark my register is the way and only way to go. Up @AlAhly”

The win over Tanta took Ajayi and his teammates to 78 points as they play out the rest of their league matches with the championship already sealed.

The 22-year-old Nigerian played a key part in Al Ahly’s league triumph, as he was voted man of the match in league games and also put in an impressive performance all through the campaign which earned him an invite by Gernot Rohr to the Super Eagles for the friendlies.

Ajayi who wants more call-ups to the Super Eagles will hope that his continuous performances will convince Rohr to invite him for the Super Eagles next friendlies against DR Congo, England, and the Czech Republic.

Ajayi and his teammates will next be in action when they take on Smouha SC in their next league fixture on Sunday, April 8.
