2019: Gov. Sani Bello gets two contenders in APC

Two aspirants have emerged to contend the governorship position with the incumbent Niger state Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The duo indicated their interest during a stakeholders meeting held at the Niger state APC Secretariat in Minna to deliberate on the method of primaries to be adopted for elective offices in the state.

The Aspirants are Alhaji Abubakar Katcha and Alhaji Mahmud Sani who is the state Chairman of the Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria (RIFAN).

The Secretary of the Niger state chapter of APC, Barrister Mohammed Alhaji Liman who confirmed it said that the Party is not excluding anybody from contesting for any position.

When questioned about the endorsement of the Governor as the sole candidate by the Party, Liman denied that the Party never claimed the Governor would be the sole candidate but the Party only endorsed him for the good works he had done.

“We did not endorse the Governor as the sole candidate. We only gave him a vote of confidence, that does not mean that we will deprive any candidate that comes up for that position. ”

The Party Secretary further said that the APC in Niger state is not particular about zoning arrangement in the state adding that it is not in the constitution.

“APC Constitution has no provision for zoning. The Party is giving everyone an opportunity to aspire. We are not excluding anybody yvodt from contesting for any position.
