2Baba speaks to Pulse on '20 Years A King'
He tells Pulse about celebrating 20 years of excellence in the music industry, new music and his boy band.
On September 17, 2019, afrobeats legend, 2Baba has been a mainstay of the Nigerian music industry for 20 years. He is known for his musical excellence and influence on the Nigerian music industry.
To celebrate this incredible milestone, the legend has commenced a series of events. The first one held on Tuesday, September 17, 2019 with a press conference at Ediye! resturant, Fola Osibo street, Lekki Phase I. The event was attended by entertainment journalists who quizzed the legend on his state of mind amongst other things.
After the press conference, the members of the pressed were treated to a meal. At the event, 2Baba, born Anthony Ujah Idibia spoke to Pulse.
When asked of how he feels about celebrating his 20th year of consistent excellence in the industry, he says, "It's 20 years since I had my first hit record. Since then, I have consistently been at the top of the Nigerian music industry and I can be considered a top 10 great - however you want to call it (laughs). Since that time I still dey till now.
"I'm mostly filled with gratitude as regards so many things that I've learned and so many things that I've achieved. I'm just grateful, man and I'm happy."
Speaking to Pulse on what the future holds for 2Baba, he says, "I'm going to keep taking it one step at a time, I'll be doing my thing. Music is definitely still part of my movement." When asked about the prospects of an album, he says, "Definitely, definitely, music go dey come."
As part of the celebration, 2Baba also announced a boy band. It will not be a group, but individual acts coming together to make music and then disperse once the purport has been achieved.
On the boy band, he says, "Since I started (the boy band), it was three of us, but it's not a group. We are individuals who came together to create music and I'm giving them a platform."
In conclusion, 2baba says that no album is in the works for the boy band. Instead, "It's just a couple of songs."
