Two unemployed men remanded in Kirikiri over alleged robbery

An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court Thursday ordered two unemployed men to be remanded in Kirikiri Correctional Services for alleged stealing a Toyota Corolla valued N2 million at gunpoint.

Chief Magistrate O.A. Layinka said they will remain in custody of Kirikiri Correctional Services pending legal advice.

Samuel Adetunji, 22 and Yaya Alasa, 27, are facing a two count charge bordering on conspiracy and robbery brought against them by the Police before Chief Magistrate Layinka.

When the charges were read, Chief Magistrate Layinka did not take the plea of the defendants.

The prosecutor, Raji Akeem, a Superintendent of Police (SP) had told the court that Adetunji and Alasa committed the offence on May 22 at Oko-Oba, Agege.

SP Akeem said that the defendants and one other still at large, broke into the house of the complainant Mr. Segun Owolabi, by 2:35 a.m., while the complainant and his family were sleeping.

He alleged that the suspects pointed a gun at them and robbery them of their car and iPhone valued at N300, 000.

The prosecutor added that during investigation, the mobile phone was tracked to Magboro area of Ogun State while the two defendants were arrested.

Chief Magistrate Layinka has adjourned the case till November 11.
