The South South Zonal Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chief Dan Orbih has assured Edo Governor Godwin Obaseki would be re-elected on September 19.
He said this would be on account of his sterling performance.
He hailed Obaseki for significantly reducing the debt profile inherited from his predecessor.
Orbih, who doubles as the Chairman, Edo PDP Campaign Council, spoke during Edo governor’s re-election campaign in Agbede, Etsako West Local Government Area (LGA) of Edo state.
He said: “The September 19, 2020 governorship election in Edo State will be a poll for liberation and freedom of Edo people.
“I wish to commend Governor Obaseki for fighting against godfatherism. The fight is not one person’s, but a fight for all Edo people.”
He urged Edo people to vote en masse for the PDP to liberate the state from an unnamed godfather.
He claimed that the election was not about him but the people of Edo, stressing it would determine their freedom and liberation from the grip of one man, who allegedly wanted to play god.
Obaseki said: “This (September 19) election is all about freedom, freeing the resources of Edo State and leaving them in the hands of the people.
‘’This will enable us to have more resources to improve roads, schools, sports, healthcare, empowerment and job creation, among others.
“In the next four years, my emphasis will be on improving the lives of our people.
“In the next four years, the whole of Edo North Senatorial District will be the largest producer of food in Nigeria.”
