‘To all the boys I’ve loved before’ is getting a spin-off!

After three years of successive instalments into this rom-com that tells the remarkable love story between Lara Jean Covey(Lana Condor) and the charming Peter Kavisnsky(Noah Centineo), this young adult film series is not wrapping production anytime soon.

Is this being done to salvage what is left of a global hit franchise while catering to a younger audience? Whatever the motive, it's happening.

Netflix is turning the world of To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before into a series, and it will focus on the youngest Covey sister, Kitty, played by Anna Cathcart.

This move was foreshadowed throughout the plot of To All the Boys: Always and Forever. And it appears as though the vibrant little sister is ready to follow her path in discovering herself through relationships like her big sister. The show is titled XO, Kitty, so it sounds like her journey will also involve some ardent similarities and hopefully more love letters.

Netflix says this about Kitty's journey:

“Teen matchmaker Kitty Song Covey thinks she knows everything there is to know about love. But when she moves halfway across the world to reunite with her long-distance boyfriend, she'll soon realize that relationships are a lot more complicated when it’s your own heart on the line.”

Co-showrunner and author of the book the film was based on, Jenny Han, said in an interview that both Lara Jean and Margot Covey (Janel Parrish) would be off in college when Kitty travels to Seoul to see if something serious could result in the boy she's been texting.

Netflix has announced one season of ten episodes, each one thirty minutes long. Han described them as incorporating “basically the stories that I would have written if I was going to continue with the books.”

A release date is yet to be announced.
