Obi Emelonye's 'Black Mail' opts for streaming platform release

The award-winning film will premiere on a yet to be confirmed streaming platform.

UK based Nollywood filmmaker, Obi Emelonye has hinted on release details for his new film 'Black Mail'.

According to Emelonye, the award winning film which recently premiered at the British Urban Film Festival (BUFF), will launch on a streaming platform.

Although the filmmaker did not share details of the choice platform, he noted via an Instagram post that it will hit the screens soon.

“It was my sincere privilege to introduce to the world the exciting little film we made. Fresh from an AMAA award win last weekend, Black Mail is coming soon on a streaming platform near you,” Emelonye wrote.

Emelonye's 'Black Mail' is interestingly the latest Nollywood film to tow the path of a video on demand release.

Recently, Izu Ojukwu's highly anticipated historical epic 'Amina' premiered exclusively on Netflix, nearly four years after its expected release.

Starring OC Ukeje in the lead role, ‘Black Mail' follows Chinda, a London based actor who must go to extreme lengths to stop a dark secret from ruining his life. The feature film was shot in the United Kingdom in 2020 amid the pandemic.

'Black Mail' recently snagged an AMAA award for the Michael Anyiam Osigwe award for Best Film by an African Living Abroad.
