"Still Water Runs Deep": Short film to premiere at 2017 AFRIFF

"Still Water Runs Deep," a Nollywood short film, is set to premiere in Africa at the 2017 Africa International Film Festival.

"Still Water Runs Deep" is set to debut in Africa.

After an exciting opening at the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), New York-based filmmakers, Melissa Adeyemo and Abbesi Akhamie, will premiere the short film at Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF).

"Still Water Runs Deep" will premiere on Monday, October 30 at 2:30 PM, at the Genesis Cinema, Palms Mall, Lekki, Lagos.
A second screening is scheduled for Wednesday, November 1 at 7:30 PM at the above-mentioned venue.

Written and directed by NYU Tisch Graduate student Abbesi Akhamie, the short film tells the story of a father who must withstand his emotions and preserve his pride when his estranged son goes missing.

The film intends to bring to light the difficulty honest and hardworking men face while trying to raise their children.

Shot in Afowa-Uzairue, Edo State in the southwest region of Nigeria, the film had Lala Akindoju on board as the casting director and co-producer.

 

The short film features veteran theatre and film actors Toyin Oshinaike, Rita Edward and Yemi Adebiyi.

"Still Water Runs Deep" is in competition at the festival for Best Student Short.​ ​
