Super Eagles: FIFA fine NFF N11M over pitch invasion against Cameroon

The NFF will be hoping to avoid similar occurrence when the Super Eagles host Zambia on Saturday.

World football governing body, FIFA have fined the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) the sum of N11m (30,000 Swiss Francs) for the pitch invasion that happened at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium when the Super Eagles beat Cameroon 4-0.

After that 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier on Friday, September 1, home fans invaded the stadium to celebrate the Super Eagles win.

For failure to contain the home fans, FIFA say the NFF violated article 65 and 67 of the FBC FIFA stadium safety and security regulations and charged Nigeria of improper conduct amongst spectators

According to a statement on the official website of FIFA, the NFF have been fined N11m (30,000 Swiss Francs) and warned of future occurrences.

 

Nigeria are not alone in the penalty, Germany, Brazil, Burkina Faso, Chile, England, France and Guinea were also fined by FIFA.

The NFF will be hoping to avoid similar occurrence when the Super Eagles host Zambia on Saturday, October 7 in Uyo.

A win for the Super Eagles will seal qualification for the 2018 FIFA World Cup which will hold in Russia.
