One Africa Music Fest Dubai: Sarkodie did not perform because he was 'disrespected'

Sarkodie

The Ghanaian rapper was disrespected at the event, which made him decline to perform.

According to reports, Sarkodie was disrespected at the One Africa Music Fest Dubai.

The event which went down at the Madinat Jumeirah Al Sufough, Dubai, featured from 2Baba, Tekno, Emma Nyra, Davido, Tiwa Savage, Wizkid, Flavour, Banky W, Vanessa Mdee, Victoria Kimani,  and much more, it was quite a thrilling affair for lovers of African music.

But for Sarkodie, it wasn’t to be. The Ghanaian rapper was disrespected at the event, which made him decline to perform.

“Sorry to fans in Dubai but I'm not performing... hopefully I make it next time,” the rapper tweeted.

A Ghanaian entertainment writer on Twitter, with the username @SHOLA_YPT, and another tweeting from @NanaBhard, offer some explanation on why this happened. We have summed up his tweets below:

“Sarkodie will no longer perform because of time constraints. Banky W started introducing Sarkodie; talked about how he's the African rap king blablabla, and then he was signaled to introduce Davido rather. Sad moments, chale.

“As always, Sarkodie and DJ were present at the venue on time and were to told would perform after Tiwa Savage only to find Wizkid jump unto the stage during Tiwa Savage’s performance even without being announced. The organizers then informed Sarkodie he would perform after Tekno.

Only to find Davido repeat Wizkid’s act. Mounting the stage even without being called. Banky W, the host announced Sarkodie as the next performer while DJ Mensah set up only to be told again that Davido was coming up next. Banky W even seemed surprised.

Sarkodie then felt the turn of events were disrespectful and frustrating.”

This wasn’t the only piece of negative news coming from the One Africa Music Fest Dubai. According to Instablog9ja, a fight erupted among the staff of Davido and Wizkid. It was also reported that Wizkid was assaulted by one of the members of Davido's crew.
