Victor Moses: Super Eagles star inspires as Chelsea come from behind to beat Newcastle
Victor Moses inspired the Blues to a 3-1 win, with goals from Eden Hazard anmd Alvaro Morata
Super Eagles forward continued his return to Premier League action with an assist as Chelsea came from a goal down to beat Newcastle in their league game on Saturday.
Chelsea were clear favourites before the game with Eden Hazard, Alvaro Morata and Cesc Fabregas leading the charge as Antonio Conte’s side sought all three points to put pressure on Manchester City.
However, things did not turn out as easily as planned. Sloopy defending from Marcos Alonso left Thibaut Courtois and Jacob Murphy in a pile. Dwight Gayle had the goal at his mercy as he gave Newcastle the lead with only 12 minutes gone.

From then, the Blues went on the hunt for an equaliser immediately. Newcastle goalkeeper Karl Darlow had to make saves from Eden Hazard and Alvaro Morata before Andreas Christensen struck the post with his effort.
Hazard replied for the Blues after Newcastle failed to clear their lines, hitting a shot off the ground to bring the scores level.
Chelsea’s second came not long after, and Super Eagles forward Moses gave the assist on his return from injury. After applying constant pressure on the Magpies, the ball found Moses on the right of the field. The wing-back whipped in a cross close to goal, Alvaro Morata was at the far post to head it in and put Chelsea in the lead.
The game became a one-sided affair from thereon.
Moses almost grabbed his team’s third early on as his cross was clipped over the Newcastle post by Chancel Mbemba.
Moses and Hazard put Karl Darlow to the test again.
Chelsea’s third came from an Eden Hazard penalty with 14 minutes left on the clock.

Newcastle’s Matt Ritchie made a needless tackle in the area, and Hazard proudly stepped up to dink the ball over a hapless Darlow.
Chelsea continued to apply the pressure till the final whistle, taking the maximum points in convincing fashion.
Chelsea have now moved level on points with second-placed Manchester United who are yet to play.
Victor Moses will be looking forward to getting more minutes under his belt as the Nigeria international looks to build on his performance. He will also look to hold down in his places in Antonio Conte’s side and Gernot Rohr’s Super Eagles.
