Nigerian History Professors meet in Ondo
Seven Nigerian History Professors will on Wednesday meet at Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo.
They are: Prof Banji Akintoye, Emeritus Professors Jide Osuntokun and Anthony Asiwaju.
Others are: Professors Obaro Ikime, Dahiru Yahya, Olatunji Oloruntimehin and Tajudeen Gbadamosi.
According to the Provost, Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo, Prof. Olukoya Ogen, “These distinguished and eminent pioneers of post-colonial Nigerian historiography will be in the College to deliberate on the strategies for resuscitating and reinvigorating historical scholarship in Nigeria.”
He said: “The choice of our College for the hosting of this meeting out of several universities and higher institutions of learning in Nigeria speaks volume about our commitment to academic excellence.”
Ogen added that the choice further justifies “our long-awaited and well-deserved university status.”
During the visit, these notable icons are expected to pay homage to the Osemawe of Ondo Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba Adesimbo Kiladejo and hold an interactive session with staff and students from the Department of History.
The College will also use the occasion to confer a Lifetime Achievement Platinum Awards on the distinguished visiting professors.
