"Seven and a Half Dates": Producer says movie starring Jim Iyke and Mercy Johnson made N10M in 3 days

Seven and a Half Dates movie reportedly made N10M in 3 days

The producer of the movie also said only two Nollywood movies have made over 50 million naira at the box office this year.

Samuel Olatunji, the producer of "Seven and a Half Dates," has said that the movie made 10 million naira in three days.

"Nigerians love quality movie," he wrote, celebrating the success of the movie which he also said emerged the second highest grossing of the weekend, only behind the Hollywood film, "Mission Impossible: Fallout."

He described this as a major feat. According to Olatunji, only two Nollywood movies - one of which is "The Ghost and the Tout," which was also produced by him -  has made over 50 million naira this year.

 

The romantic comedy which is still showing in cinemas stars Mercy Johnson, Sola Sobowale, Toyin Aimakhu, Bayray Mcnwizu, Frank Donga, Ali Nuhu, Akin Lewis, Jim Iyke and Fathia Williams.

About "Seven and a Half Dates"

The movie follows the life of a young hard working lady, Bisola, who is engrossed in her passion for her career and finds herself in a seemingly unending quest for love.

Her father, Mr Gomez, comes to the rescue. Inspired by the game of chess, he sets Bisola up for 10 different dates to which he hopes one of them yields a positive result.

 

Written by Joy Isi Bewaji and directed by Biodun Stephens, "Seven and a Half Dates" was released in cinemas on August 3.
