Five years after he retired, Mohamed Aboutrika has been sent to jail for tax offences committed in 2009.
Egyptian legend Mohamed Aboutrika has been sentenced to jail in Qatar for tax evasion.
The legend who is now 40-years-old has been in Qatar since 2013 when he announce his retirement from professional football.
According to a report by the Associated Press, Aboutrika who currently works with BeIN Sports network as a sports analyst is guilty of tax evasion.

The report states that he was sentenced after he was unable to pay 710,000 Egyptian pounds in taxes from his earned income in 2008, 2009.
The report states that the taxes evaded are from advertising deals with carbonated drink and telecommunications companies.
Several reports from Egyptian media outlets suggest that the jail time is not done and dusted as he can still appeal in court if he pays a required fine of 20,000 Egyptian pounds and his sentence will be put on hold.
