‘Give us political autonomy in Ondo East’

Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo East on Saturday protested the alleged imposition of local government and House of Assembly candidates in the area.

They specifically urged traditional rulers, monarchs, chiefs and the state government to prevail on the affected gladiators.

A communique signed by the APC leaders in the local government after their emergency meeting and signed by Comrade Pius Omolola, Akinseli Ope, Akinfoye Rotimi and Olatunbosun Biodun called for justice and immediate release of the primary election result for the state assembly won by Adedapo Adesimoye, an engineer.

According to the statement, the Ondo East people should be allowed to determine their fate politically, stressing that the 1999 constitution listed Ondo East as one of the 774 local government areas existing as an autonomous third-tier government.

The stakeholders said “It is very provoking that decisions to appoint people into political positions are decided in the house of an aspirant in Ondo town which is in Ondo west local government area .

“It is an irony of fate that some of them have very juicy appointment in the present administration but failed to assist their people for improved life”.

The group pleaded that they should desist from interfering  into Ondo East affairs, since their political base did not extend to Ondo East.

Their words” Ondo East will never subject its autonomy to Ondo West or any other for whatever reason,Akure North is not under Akure South,Akoko Southeast has no control over Akoko Southwest, while Eseodo is quite different from Ilaje local government and very independent.
