How Tiwa Savage stays true to being African in her music

The status of being an African is a proud feeling for her and she never lets it go scarce in her music.

 

Savage who just released a Killertunes produced single 'One' is at the "forefront of the Afrobeats explosion" according to the British Vogue in an IG post that acknowledges her reach.

“In everything I do – whether it’s using my native language, or an African beat – something is going to let you know that I’m an African woman," Savage tells the publisher.

Among other things she talks about respecting women who are mothers, especially the ones who combine that role with work.

At the the 2018 MTV EMA awards, held on Sunday, November 4, Tiwa Savage is named the winner of the 'Best African Act' cadre.

She was the favourite ahead of contemporaries Davido, Distruction Boyz (South Africa), Fally Ipupa (DRC), Nyashinnski (Kenya) and Shekinah (South Africa).
