Kano Pillars forward Lokosa presented with NPFL Player of the Season award

Junior Lokosa has been rewarded for his performance and goals in the 2017/18 NPFL season.

Kano Pillars forward Junior Lokosa has been awarded the 2017/18 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Player of the Season and Highest Goal Scorer by the League Bloggers Awards (LBA).

Lokosa had a fruitful season in front of goal and was duly awarded the top scorer award for surpassing every player on the league.

The 2017/18 NPFL season came to an end with several games yet to play and Lokosa already had 19 goals and could have surpassed Enyimba legend Mfon Udoh’s 23 goal season record.

 

For his achievements, he was crowned the best player despite Lobi Stars the winners of the league title.

The striker who scored 19 goals in just 21 games while he missed three other matches was hailed by the award organizers for his outstanding season.

 

LBA on Lokosa

A statement by the LBA said, “The LBA took its decision based on statistics available as at Matchday 24.

“Lokosa had a fantastic campaign right from the first round when he entered the history books as the first player to score 14 goals after 19 matchdays in the top division in Nigeria.

 

“Overall, he made significant contributions to the performance of his team and was clearly the poster boy.”

The youngster who won the monthly best player award in January and February has been called up by Gernot Rohr for the Super Eagles international friendly encounter against DR Congo where he made his debut before their participated at the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
