Champions League: How Nigerian players fared in Tuesday’s games
A review of Nigerian players fared in the Champions League on Tuesday.
Three Nigerian players were in action for their respective clubs in the Champions League on Tuesday, October 22.
We review their performances.
Emmanuel Dennis Bonaventure and David Okereke (Club Brugge 0 Vs 5 Paris Saint-Germain)
Two Nigerian players Emmanuel Dennis Bonaventure and David Okereke were in action as Club Brugge were trounced at home by Paris Saint-Germain.
Bonaventure was on from the start but was ineffective in the game as Paris Saint-Germain dominated. The 21-year-old played for 57 minutes but had no opportunity to trouble Paris Saint-Germain. He was taken off in the 76th minute.
Okereke came on in the 57th minute and gave the Paris Saint-Germain more to worry about. He had a shot that went just off target in a rare attack from Club Brugge in the second.
In the end, a Kylian Mbappé masterclass in the second was too much for Club Brugge who lost 5-0 at home.
Bryan Idowu (Juventus 2 Vs 1 Lokomotiv Moscow)
Super Eagles defender Bryan Idowu played the whole 90 minutes for Lokomotiv Moscow who lost 2-1 to Juventus in Turin after going 1-0 up.
Idowu had Paulo Dybala and Juan Cuadrado to deal with for most of the game. He was at fault for Juventus’ winner as he failed to track Dybala who was quick on a loose ball in the box to score.
