“Kporonge Baby” crooner Assorted, back to take over the music scene
Years ago, one of the biggest songs in the country and africa as a continent was Kporonge Baby by Assorted which lit up the clubs, parties and social gatherings.
The man behind the mega hit Assorted, however, took a break from the music scene but based on massive demand from fans and music lovers, He is back like he never left, with an avalanche of hits ready to lit up your speakers.
He speaks on his latest single ‘Turn By Turn’ an upcoming collaboration With Flavor and lot more.
1. What's your real name and how did you come about stage name "assorted"?
My full name is Ogbonna Victor Ebuka.
2. How did your relationship with music start?
Music i will say is hereditary for me, it has always been a part of my family; from my grand dad to my dad and now me. but i am the first to take it professionally.
3. How would you describe your kind of music?
My music is a blend of Afro Pop, Highlife. it is basically the sound of Africa.
4. Why the name assorted? How did you come about the name ?
The name Assorted means different variety of a thing, which is what my brand represents; a variety of sounds.
5. How many songs do you have to your name ?
Officially, i have 5 songs, but there's a whole lot of songs dropping in the next couple of weeks.
6. You had a song titled "kporonge Baby", how did you feel getting so much attention and love with the song?
Kporenge Baby was such a massive hit and it felt great that my sound was appreciated. i feel very happy about it. Big shout out to my fans and everyone that has been supporting.
7. For those that don't know, what's the meaning of "Kporonge Baby"
Kporonge Baby simply means an unfaithful spouse or partner who cheats. The song was centred around a cheating fiancee.
8. How would you describe your journey so far in the music industry?
It has been great, tasking but i am enjoying the experience, the Nigerian music industry is a very competitive one, so everyone has to be up and doing.
9. You're signed to Hillbanks Records, how did you get the deal?
I was in South Africa when i got a call from the label CEO. He is familiar to the songs so he expressed interest in signing me and that was the beginning of the journey.
10. How would you describe your experience with the label so far?
It has been a wonderful experience and i can't wait for y'all to see and listen to what we have been cooking.
11. Now you have a new song "Turn By Turn" the video is out and popping how did the song come to life?
Turn By Turn is basically about life and the need not to feel pressured when everyone else around you is making is as this life na Turn By Turn, eventually it will reach your turn.
12. Should your fans expect any huge collaboration soon?
Yeah, i have an upcoming single with Flavor, it's a big tune, i can't wait for y'all to listen to it. Watch out for Assorted featuring Flavor.
13. What should your fans be expecting from you next?
Like i aforementioned, my next single is one to look out for, then will be releasing the video as well, everything else will follow.
