Anambra 2021: Ozigbo wins PDP primary

Former Chief Executive Officer of Transcorp Plc Valentine Ozigbo is governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Chairman of election committee and Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom announced Ozigbo as winner of the election which held at the Prof. Dora Akunyili Women’s Development Centre in Awka.

Ozigbo secured 62 votes to beat Obiora Okonkwo (58 votes).

However, a parallel election held at the Paul University field in Awka, and produced Senator Ugochukwu Uba, who represents Anambra South.

Names of all the aspirants appeared in the different venues where they got different number of votes, including those who withdrew from the race like Dr Tony Nwoye and Emeka Etiaba.

Uba polled 275 votes to efeat Godwin Ezeemo (114 votes) and others, as announced by Electoral Panel Chairman in the Paul University center, Obidi Ebede.

Four aspirants – Godwin Ezeemo, Ubaka Okeke, Jonny Maduaforkwa and Ugochukwu Uba – took part in the factional primary.

They presented a June 22, 2021 letter from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), signed by the Secretary to the Commission, Rose Anthony, after serving it with a court judgment.

Ezeemo, who congratulated Uba, said he was satisfied with the outcome of the election.
