Netflix confirms 4 new comedy specials by Dave Chappelle
The comedian's 'The Closer' comedy special earned him major backlash from the trans community.
Netflix has confirmed that stand-up comedian Dave Chappelle will produce and host a series of four stand-alone specials.
According to reports, the series titled 'Chappelle's Home Team' will feature comedians selected by Chappelle.
Chappelle will also appear in each special to introduce the comedians.
Titled 'Earthquake: Legendary', the first special features comedian Earthquake as he highlights issues bordering on health as wealth, prostate exams and disciplining kids.
The first special will debut on the streamer on Febraury 28 with executive producers including Earthquake, Rikki Hughes, Jermaine Smith and Stan Lathan, who also serves as director.
Netflix's new announcement comes in the wake of the backlash the streamer received last year following the release of Chappelle's 'The Closer'.
Despite the heavy criticism targetted at both Netflix and Chappelle, the streamer maintained its support of the comedian.
Recall that the transgender community called for the comedy special to be taken down from the streamer over jokes made by Chappelle. About 30 Netflix workers staged a protest rally at Netflix offices in Los Angeles in solidarity with the trans community.
