Child Abuse: Female lawyer arrested for torturing adopted daughter
A female lawyer who should know better has been arrested for torturing her adopted daughter over allegations of being a witch.
A Port Harcourt, Rivers State-based female lawyer, Elizabeth Agboje, has been arrested by the State Police Command for allegedly torturing her nine-year-old adopted daughter after branding her a witch.
Punch reports that Barr. Agboje was among criminal suspects paraded at the Command Headquarters on Wednesday, September 20, 2017.

It was gathered that Agboje had severally maltreated the girl identified as Bright Maxson, after a Pastor told her she was a witch and responsible for all her troubles and setbacks in life.
Agboje who has two biological children of her own, was said to have continually subjected the girl to degrading treatment without minding the implication.
While parading her, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Zaki, told journalists that Agboje was apprehended by the Human Rights Department of the Command for allegedly torturing Maxson.
“The Human Rights Officer of the Command, DSP Emmanuel Ukwenya, arrested one Barrister Elizabeth Agboje, who it was alleged, had been consistently torturing and assaulting little Miss Bright Maxson, accusing her of being a witch and a thief.

She is also alleged to have subjected her to all manners of degrading treatments for over seven years. The lawyer is a suspect who has made useful statements to the police and as soon as investigations are concluded, she will be charged to court for proper prosecution,” CP Zaki said.
It was, however, gathered that the victim, who was said to be sick when she was rescued by the police, had been receiving treatment at the Police Hospital in Port Harcourt.
