Infidelity: Kenyan man commits suicide after stabbing wife to death

A young man has committed suicide in Kenya after stabbing his wife to death following allegations that she was cheating on him.

A Kenyan man has committed suicide by hanging shortly after stabbing his wife to death over allegations that she was cheating on him, Nairobi Wire reports.

It was gathered that the man, Daniel Mwangi, had stabbed his 25-year-old wife, Jacinta Nyambura, a school teacher, to death at their residence in the Tayari Estate on the outskirts of Molo town in the Nakuru County of that country.

Mwangi was said to have suspected that his wife was having an affair and when he confronted her, a heated argument ensued between them and he ended up stabbing her several times in the chest, neck, and stomach, before hanging himself.

According to neighbour identified as Paul Itume, the couple had engaged in a heated argument in their house on Monday, September 18, 2017, before the woman was heard screaming.

Itume said other neighbours could not render any help since the house was locked from the inside but when they managed to break the door, they Mwangi's body hanging from the ceiling and Nyambura was found in a pool of her blood with multiple stab wounds on her.

 

“I don’t know exactly what happened but we thought it was the usual domestic squabble mostly experienced among youthful people. We are shaken by the unfortunate turn of events,” Itume said.

The woman was said to be a teacher at a private school in the town while the husband was a bodaboda [taxi] operator, residents claimed.

According to police, Mwangi left behind a suicide note accusing his wife of having an affair.

In the note, he reportedly wrote:

“I love her so much; she cannot date another man while I’m still alive. It is so stupid of me to do this [commit murder, suicide], but why should I live?”

Incidents of men killing their women have been on the increase in Kenya in recent times. Just some weeks ago, a policeman attached to the Presidential Escort shot and killed his girlfriend in Nairobi after his marriage proposal was rejected. He then turned the gun on himself in an attempt to take his own life.
