Anthony Joshua: How Sagamu is preparing for his fight against Carlos Takam

Joshua's parents Robert and Yeta are originally from Shagamu where he still has lots of relatives.

Sagamu which is the ancestral hometown of Anthony Joshua is once again getting ready for his big fight against Carlos Takam.

Joshua will on Saturday, October 28 take on Cameroonian-born Takam to defend his WBA, IBF and IBO heavyweight titles.

The boxer’s parents Robert and Yeta are originally from Shagamu where he still has lots of family members and relatives.

 

Ahead of the fight, the Ogun State town is gearing up to support their son in any way they can.

It was a big party when Joshua beat Wladimir Klitschko in April 2017 as hundreds of people attended a view party which was organised by the Sagamu Youth Association.

For the fight on Saturday, A viewing party has also been organised at the memorial hall of the late great-grandfather of the boxer, Adebambo Joshua.

A huge projector has been mounted in front of the BabaJosh Memorial Hall where hundreds will view the bout.

 

Earlier in the day Pulse Sports reported that traditional worshippers in Sagamu who practise the Ifá religion have since kicked off a special sacrifice for Joshua ahead of his fight on Saturday.

According to a Pulse Sports source in Sagamu, the worshippers started the sacrifice on Thursday, October 26 two days before the fight on Saturday.
