The Imo State Governor is not backing down on unveiling statues as that of the Ghanaian President is the next in line to be unveiled.

In his bid to turn Imo State into the home of statues, the enigmatic Governor of the State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has perfected plans to unveil the statue of the Ghanaian President, Nana Akufo-Addo.

The commissioning of the statue of Akufo-Addo is coming shortly after Okorocha unveiled those of the South African and Liberian Presidents, Jacob Zuma and Mrs. Elle Sirleaf-Johnson respectively.

Even though there has been a serious public outcry on the past unveiling and naming of streets after Zuma and Sirleaf-Johnson, Okorocha is defying all and going ahead to unveil more statues in what he calls the Imo Hall of Fame.

According to Imo City News, the statue of Akufo-Addo is ready and will be commissioned as soon as the Ghanaian leader comes to the state on a working visit and will also be given a chieftaincy title while another road will be named after him as well.

A Ghanaian online media outfit, YEN.com.gh, has also reported on the Akufo-Addo statue with this report:

"A statue of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has been completed and is set to be unveiled in Owerri, the capital city of the Nigerian State of Imo.

The Governor of the state, Rochas Okorocha, who sanctioned the building of the statue, is expected to commission it at a yet to be announced date.

President Akufo-Addo and Governor Okorocha have struck a cordial relationship since the former was elected as Ghana president last year. It will be recalled that Nana Akufo-Addo, as president-elect, visited Imo State for the celebration of their Thanksgiving Day as the Special Guest of Honour.

He joins President Jacob Zuma of South Africa and President Ellen Sirleaf-Johnson in this regard as they already have their statues in the state."
