Yakubu Aiyegbeni: Former Nigeria international warns against too much pressure on Super Eagles
Aiyegbeni is just happy with the Super Eagles qualification for the World Cup and does not expect much from them.
Former Nigeria international Yakubu Aiyegbeni has warned against too much pressure on the Super Eagles of Nigeria ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria are among the 32 countries that will compete at the 2018 World Cup and have been seeded in Pot 4 ahead of the draw.
With more than 100 million football enthusiast cheering and criticising the Super Eagles, Aiyegbeni who represented Nigeria at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa has advised Nigerians not to put too much pressure on the players.

“We Nigerians have too many coaches, everyone thinks there are coaches. We have to take away the pressure from this boys, there are all young kids,” the 34-year-old said in an interview with Hip TV.
“With this young boys we are not expecting them to go there and win the World Cup, it’s not going to be easy because we have so many countries that have better players than us. We hope they can get to the next round.
“It’s not going to be easy, for us we are happy to see Nigeria qualify for the World so it’s great.
“We don’t need to expect much from this boys, there are just young boys we hope they make Nigeria proud.”
The Super Eagles of Nigeria had an impressive 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, winning four games and drawing the other two to extend their unbeaten run, now 36 matches in World Cup qualifiers.
On Tuesday, November 14, the Gernot Rohr-led Super Eagles came back from two goals down to beat Argentina 4-2 in a friendly game.
Aiyegbeni is however not carried and insists he does not expect much from the Super Eagles at the 2018 World Cup.
“There are not the best team super eagles ever got, when we had (Austin Okocha) Jay Jay (Daniel) Amokachi, (Sunday) Oliseh, that was a great team,” the former Portsmouth and Everton striker added.
Nigeria have been seeded in Pot 4 ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup draw on Friday, December 1.
