Nigerian Influence In Pacific Rim 2
During the Q&A session, Boyega revealed that Pacific Rim will have a strong Nigerian influence.
"Pacific Rim is very important to me because Pacific Rim will actually be the first movie that I have done that I would heavily target Nigeria as a main marketing spot," he told the audience.
John Boyega also produced Pacific Rim and ensured his character had a Nigerian background.
His Production Company
"Pacific Rim is also important to me because I founded a company called Upper Room Entertainment after I made Star Wars 7. I actually produced Pacific Rim and what that meant is that there were ways which I could cater the character towards much more of a Nigerian background" said John Boyega.
Furthermore, he said, "I actually made Jake Pentecost who is actually Idris Elba's son I made him Nigerian and we went through a whole process in which we put moments that reflected his culture in the movie."
Wizkid In Pacific Rim 2
John Boyega revealed he got in contact with Wizkid for one of his songs to add to the Nigerian flair of the movie.
"And also we contacted Wizkid and we were like 'we need to use one of your songs for a film', and so we got 'Daddy Yo' on the track of the film" he shared with the audience.
John Boyega's idea is to "mesh the world so that we get high class larger than life, IMAX 3D picture but we have also the subtle Nigerian influences in it as well."
