Super Eagles: Nigeria drop again in new FIFA Ranking
Nigeria dropped nine places in December which was an inactive month for the Super Eagles.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria have continued their slide in the FIFA Ranking, dropping one place from 50th to 51st place in the new ranking released on Thursday, December 21.
Nigeria who dropped nine places in November were not in action in the whole of December.
In this new position, the Super Eagles of Nigeria are now the ninth country in Africa, a drop from the eighth position they occupied in the November ranking.
Senegal (23, Tunisia (27), Egypt (31), Congo DR (39), Morocco (40), Burkina Faso (44), Cameroon (45), Ghana (50) are all above Nigeria (51). Algeria make up the top 10 African countries on the ranking.
The Super Eagles continue to drop despite some impressive performance in recent months but findings have revealed that this slide is as a result of the way the FIFA Ranking is calculated.
In world football, Germany are confirmed as FIFA’s Team of the Year after ending 2017 at the top of the ranking.
The reigning champions are above Brazil, Portugal, Argentina and Belgium.
Spain, Poland, Switzerland, France and Chile complete the top 10 in world football.
