Umeh takes Senate seat

Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Victor Umeh, was yesterday sworn in as the senator representing Anambra Central.

Senate President Bukola Saraki swore in Umeh before the start of plenary to the applause of his supporters who thronged the National Assembly complex.

Anambra Central had been without representation for almost two years following the sack of Uche Ekwunife on December 7, 2015, by the Court of Appeal.

Governor Willie Obiano accompanied Umeh to the inauguration.

The crowd of supporters choked the lobby and adjoining hearing rooms.

Umeh, who addressed reporters after taking his oath of office, called for the implementation of the 2014 National Conference report.
