Serena Williams: Tennis star returns to action as husband, baby watch
Serena Williams after a long time out due to the delivery of her baby
Tennis superstar Serena Williams on Sunday, February 11 returned to action with on court since the birth of her baby.
Serena played her first match since her delivery with her sister Venus Williams in a doubles game of no consequence, even though they lost.
Serena was not at the stadium alone tho, as her husband Alexis Ohanian and five month old baby Alexis Olympia were on hand to support her.
The 23 grand slam winner, has not featured since the she withdrew due to her pregnancy and was due to come back for the just concluded Australian Open, but declared she was not fit enough.
She returned to the court and put up a an impressive performance in the doubles game against Netherlands in the Fed Cup played in Asheville, North Carolina
She admitted that her performance in the game was not bad at all, "I honestly feel better than I thought I was going to feel,"
"I feel like I didn't expect to play, you know, like that for me. I feel like I'm on the right track. I didn't know what to expect. Maybe that's why I felt like I did better.” She said
Serena’s sister Venus was full of praise for the 23-grand slam winner and posted a picture of their game on her official Twitter account, with a caption "My two loves, I'm so proud of you @serenawilliams and baby Olympia, both @FedCup go USA!"
The 23 time grand slam winner also explained that she has to do better, as it was her first match travelling with the baby.
"I didn't expect to have that much power on my serves, even though they didn't go in. It's just a start. I feel like that's a very good step in the right direction."
"This is literally my first time travelling with the baby and everything. I'm going to try to do better. I'm always going to have the best and highest expectations for myself." She said
Serena will continue her recovery to the path that saw her take a leading role in female tennis for a long time as she should compete in the remaining Grand slams for the year.
