Alexis Sanchez: Manchester United fear forward could flop like Di Maria

Manchester United are reportedly scared that their new signing Alexis Sanchez might flop like Ángel Di María who failed to recapture his best form before he was sold.

Sanchez was signed from Arsenal in the January transfer window and although he was gotten as part of a swap deal Manchester United splash huge cash on his wages.

The Chilean is now the highest-paid player in the Premier League on a total of £600,000 a week.

 

The 29-year-old has however had a disappointing start at Manchester United, scoring just one goal which was against Huddersfield in an FA Cup win.

Sanchez failed to inspire Manchester United in defeats against Tottenham, Newcastle United and Sevilla who knocked them out of the Champions League.

Like Di Maria, like Sanchez?

 

According to Daily Mail, there are now concerns within the club that Sanchez could end up just like Di Maria who flopped at Manchester United after a £59.7m move from Real Madrid in 2014.

Staff at Manchester United have been shocked with Sanchez’s demeanour at the club’s Carrington training ground where ‘he cuts an unhappy, isolated figure and often eats alone in the canteen’ according to the Daily Mail report.

Sanchez had often cut an isolated figure at Arsenal even on the pitch and there were also reports that he didn’t get along with his teammates.

He seems to have continued with that attitude at Manchester United and some even say comes across as a player who is regretting his decision to join the club.

“He looks like someone who doesn't want to be here,” a Manchester United source as quoted to say in the report.

“The whole thing doesn't seem right and he looks like a lost boy. It was the same with Di Maria.”
