Not fewer than 300 clerics have been engaged by Dapchi Community to pray for the safe return of their girls abducted by suspected members of the Boko Haram insurgents at Government Girls Science Technical School, Dapchi, The Nation has learnt.

Most of the clerics according to the information are drawn from Dapchi community and other neigbouring villages.

The member representing Bursari, Yunusari, Geidam Federal Constituency at the House of Representative, Hon. Goni Bukar told The Nation in Damaturu, that the prayers of the clerics which began since the day of the abduction of the girls will not stop until the girls are rescued.

“We have gathered all the Ulamas in Dapchi into one Mosque and gave them every support to start praying to God until all the girls return. Even after the convocation of the university last weekend, I went to Dapchi and met about two to three hundred of them praying for the safe return of the girls,” Hon. Goni Bukar informed.

The Chairman, Forum of Parents of the missing girls, Alhaji Basir Manzo has also confirmed that an large number of clerics have been engaged  within Dapchi town and its environs and currently   praying at various Tsangayas for the return of the girls.

Alhaji Manzo who earlier gave the list of 105 missing girls told The Nation on Thursday that no girl has return in their knowledge. He added that the list of the missing girls’ parents is now 107.

He also disperses rumors that some of the abducted girls have phone their parents from captivity.

“The rumors that some of the girls have called their parents are all lies. We have verified all the places but it turnout to be lies”, Bashir informed.

The lawmaker whose driver’s daughter is also among the missing girls gave a clue on the location of the insurgents, while calling on the military to move in and dislodge the insurgents and recover the girls from captivity.

“We have one or two information when the military came in the first place. We don’t want to shift blame on anybody but our prayers compelled the military to deploy more man power to rescue the girls. The girls are within Yobe. We have idea that they are in Bulabulin, Yunusari Local Government. They military is aware that Boko Haram have been in that place for over four years. They live in that place like their own city,” Hon. Bukar disclosed.

Speaking on the efforts of the military in the search for the girls, Hon. Goni Buakar said; “I cannot blame the military because I am speaking with those that are carrying out the operation. We have been speaking and they are telling me everything that they are doing so I cannot say I will blame anybody from the military. They are doing everything but I think they need to improve more in their search operation so as to rescue those girls.

“This issue is beyond the military that we have in Yobe. Let the president come with the service chiefs to Yobe and surround the place and rescue our girls for us. It is not the issue of sending ten policemen or 20 soldiers.  It is a matter of commitment.  That is what we need. Anything other than that will not be acceptable to us. If they like, let them give the uniform and I will wear it and go and show them the place. Even the day of the incident, myself, the chairman and member House of Assembly went to Gumsa because we had information that three of the girls died along the way and they were thrown away but it was wrong information”, Goni Bukar said.

Investigation revealed that the Forum of parents of the missing Dapchi girls are planning to stage a grand occupation of Damaturu , the Yobe State capital to press on the government to intensify efforts in rescuing their daughter but are being financially constrained.

Chairman of the forum, Bashir Manzo said, we are going to go ahead with our plan to come to Damaturu Isha Allah despite our financial difficulties. We need to mobilize people to carry out our plan to visit Damaturu. But so far, all the monies we have gathered as a group is going into the prayers that we are organizing for the safe return of our daughters”.

Alhaji Bashir Manzo expressed gratitude to Alhaji  Tijani Musa Tumsa, Lawan Gana Guba, the family of late  Baba Kankare who assisted the association with  N50;000, N70,000, N100,000 respectively.
