Davido: 5 things OBO said about Ronaldo, Chelsea in his Goal Interview

Davido says although he hasn't been able to meet Ronaldo, he's good friends with the Real Madrid ace.

Nigerian Pop Star, Davido first became associated with Cristiano Ronaldo after he mentioned the latter in his 2017 hit “IF”; as he told Goal in a recent interview, the Real Madrid ace is also his friend.

Soccer magazine, Goal spoke with the Nigerian artiste who is presently on tour, about playing football while growing up, his relationship with Victor Moses and Cristiano Ronaldo and the Nigerian Super Eagles.

Here are five of the more interesting things Davido said during the interview.

(1) Although he admits the two are yet to meet, Davido says Cristiano Ronaldo is his friend.

The two first got in the same conversation after Ronaldo acknowledged his mention in Davido’s “If” last year.

Their busy schedules have kept them from meeting each other, OBO says.

“I haven’t had a chance to be like, yo! Just get up and go, because he be moving, they have games”, Davido told Goal.

(2) Davido plans to work with the pop star:

On different side o music and sports, two of the world’s most lucrative fields in world entertainment, Davido and Cristiano Ronaldo both enjoy the adoration of millions of fans across the world.

Davido told Goal of his plans to work with the 4-time Ballon d'Or winner in the future.

While most would expect a cameo in a music video, that’s not the plan for Davido.

“I’ll try to think of a concept where both of our worlds could meet”, he tells Goal.

(3) Davido thinks Nigeria could win the World Cup:

You wouldn’t expect Davido to show support for any team other than the Nigerian National Team because common sense.

The pop star has gone further to say that he thinks Nigeria could go all the way at Russia 2018.

Davido admits that going that far could be a hard task as the Eagles face stiff opposition, although he didn’t exactly show that he was aware what teams the Eagles would play in Group F.

(4) He met the Chelsea squad, courtesy of his good friend, Victor Moses:

Nigerian footballers, especially those playing in Europe, have good relationships with the country’s pop stars.

It is not uncommon for one party to meet the other’s crew and colleagues, so Davido was probably not surprised when the conversation about meeting the Chelsea squad came up.

OBO tells Goal that after seeing one of Chelsea’s games, the Chelsea wing-back took him to the locker room to meet the players.

“ Victor was basically saying, you remember that song? I played the other day? They were like, yeah. I met them, took a picture with them and that was basically it”.

(5) Performing in Africa is similar to doing shows in the UK:

Many Africans often boast that the energy at shows at home is unrivalled next to shows in Europe and countries like the UK. Davido, who is currently on tour in the British Isles, believes the energy is the same everywhere.

….. I feel like it’ the same everywhere with the love as long as the fans are having a good time and they know your music

However, he acknowledged that the vibe at home is crazy.

Of course, back home it’s crazy — Africa is crazy
