The Flying Eagles are in Egypt for a two-match tour to prepare for the AFCON qualifiers.

Nigeria’s U-20 men’s football team Flying Eagles were held to a 0-0 draw by Egypt in their opening match of the two-match tour.

Head Coach Paul Aigbogun and his players were unable to defeat the young Pharaohs of Egypt in a friendly game played at the El Borg Stadium, Alexandria on Monday, March 26.

The two-match tour of Egypt is a preparatory step for the Flying Eagles in their upcoming U-20 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

Newly appointed captain of the Flying Eagles Enyimba’s Ikouwen Utin was unable to lead his side to victory in his first outing as the leader.

The Flying Eagles will play their second preparatory game against Egypt on Wednesday, March 28 at the El Borg Stadium, Alexandria.

The Flying Eagles will play against the winner between Sierra Leone and Guinea Bissau in the second round of the U-20 AFCON qualifiers.

Semi-finalists at the African U-20 competition will represent the continent at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in 2019.

Nigeria has never lifted the FIFA U-20 World Cup but got to the final at the 1989 and 2005 editions.
