Keyamo: give evidence
Mr. Festus Keyamo (SAN) said “It is now left for Gen Danjuma to assist the military, the high command because this is a military that is very dear to his heart.
“What he needs to do is that the evidence he has of collusion – because he must not have spoken out without evidence – he must surrender them to the military or Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, to show that this was why he spoke in that vein. So, we expect him to do that in the next few days.
“When he supplies the evidence, the elements he is talking about must be dealt with.”
Nevertheless, Keyamo wondered how a multi-ethnic establishment like the Nigerian military could become susceptible to such collusion.
He said: “The army is made up of all colours and tribes: Fulani, Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba. Most of these killings are ethnic killings. Is he saying that the Igbo or Yoruba soldiers in the army are colluding with the Fulani herdsmen? Or that soldiers from the Middle Belt e.g. Benue or Kogi, or Taraba are colluding in the killings against their own people? This is the only curiosity I find in the statement.”
