Here are the official mascots for the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The official mascots for the 2020 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games have been revealed.

The 2018 Winter Olympics is now over and attention has turned to Tokyo the host of the 2020 games.

The mascots are futuristic and have no name yet, but are said to be very good friends.

The Olympic Games mascot is a super hero character of blue and white colour, and is described as “a strong sense of justice and is very athletic.”

The Paralympic Games mascot is a character of pink and white colour, and is described as “a dignified inner strength and a kind heart that loves nature.”

The decision to chose the mascots were given to school students across the nation who selected the characters from an option of three.

 

A statement on the Tokyo 2020 official Twitter handle said, "We’re pleased to introduce the Tokyo 2020 Games Mascots! The Olympic Mascot is inspired by a fusion of tradition with modern innovation, the Paralympic Mascot by nature and the supernatural powers that make Japan distinct. They’d like to say hello!"

Ryo Taniguchi's characters were selected as the official mascots for the Games.

The Olympic Games will be held from the 24th of July till the 9th of August, and the Paralympic Games will commence on the 25th of August and will be concluded on the 6th of September 2020.
