Alhassan Yusuf: Nigerian midfielder completes move to IFK Göteborg
Young talented Nigerian midfielder Alhassan Yusuf moves to Sweden to start off his career.
Nigerian midfielder Alhassan Yusuf has completed a move to Swedish Allsvenskan side IFK Göteborg on Tuesday, July 25.
The promising Nigerian signed a two-year-deal with IFK Göteborg 18-time champions of Sweden.
The details of the contract state that Yusuf’s contract has an option to be extended for another two years.
The 18-year-old is a product of Tiki-Taka Football a Nigerian Academy in collaboration with the Swedish outfit.
A statement on IFK Göteborg website confirmed the details of signing as well as the thoughts of the team manager.
Mats Gren Sports director for IFK Göteborg said, "We are very pleased that he has chosen us in competition with several other clubs.
"He has been with us for a couple of months and really showed what capacity and talent there are. Ridiculous, talented with a ball and with an already well-developed spell, we have great hopes for the future of Alhassan.”
Gren also stated that the young Nigerian may not be ready for IFK Göteborg next fixture against Brommapojkarna due to finalizing minor issues.
He said, "There is still a lot of work left, including work permits, and the case is currently with the authorities. Of course, we want to have Alhassan available as fast as possible”
Yusuf who is nicknamed ‘Hasse’ by teammates had a successful trial with IFK Göteborg and was issued the number 28 jersey for the rest of the season.
