Anthony Joshua: Fury calls out boxer for ‘avoiding’ Wilder

Joshua and Wilder failed to reach an agreement for a fight but Fury believes his fellow British boxer is sacred.

British boxer Tyson Fury has called out his compatriot Anthony Joshua for avoiding the much-expected showdown against Deontay Wilder.

After beating Joseph Parker in April, Joshua was expected face American rival Wilder in a unification fight that would have been the biggest heavyweight clash in 2018.

After failing to reach an agreement for a fight against Wilder, Joshua went on to confirm a date for a fight against Russian boxer Alexander Povetkin on Saturday, September 22 at Wembley.

Fury is of the opinion that Joshua is scared of facing the highly rated Wilder.

I think it's such a sad time for heavyweight boxing because you've got the so-called super champion and golden boy, Anthony Joshua, and he is avoiding Deontay Wilder and will not fight him at any cost,' Fury said in a video posted to Twitter.

If you're not going to fight someone for £40million, you're not going to fight him for anything. It's a disgrace and he's a disgrace to boxing.

“And I think it needs somebody good enough to step up and take on the challenges and not be afraid - not be afraid to take risks and go to people's backyards and do it.”

Fury who is trying to make a come-back has been scheduled to fight Francesco Pianeta in his second bout since a two-and-a-half absence from boxing.

Wilder is still in the sight of Fury who is aiming to dominate the heavyweight category.

Can you imagine if I went to America and beat Deontay Wilder in America? After beating Klitschko in Germany?” Fury also said.

It would be sensational. It might happen. Who knows? Wait for the news.”
