Future Eagles: Nigeria beat Morocco 3-2 in opening game
The Future Eagles started their campaign at the AYG on a winning note against Morocco.
Nigeria’s U-15 team, Future Eagles beat their Moroccan counterparts 3-2 in the opening game of their 2018 African Youth Games (AYG) played on Thursday, July 19.
The Future Eagles who are defending champions of the football event at the AYG began their campaign on a winning note with Lateef Omidiji who turned down the U.S.A making his debut in the green white green.
The team lead by Coach Danladi Nasidi were trailing in 2-0 as it seemed it will be a repeat of when both sides met in a friendly in 2017.
The North Africans were however broken down with Lateef providing two assists as they Future Eagles fought their way back into the encounter.
According to Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) the Feyenoord Rotterdam kid Lateef was given special attention by the Moroccan defense as he had to drop deep to provide the goals for his teammates.
The Future Eagles responded through a brace from Divine Nwachukwu while the other goal was converted by Chidera Ejiofor.
The victory gives the Future Eagles going into their last two group games against Djibouti on Saturday, July 21, and then later against Libya on Monday, July 23.
