Paris Saint-Germain: Mbappe, Neymar model gold away kit for Ligue 1 champions
Check out the new Paris-Saint Germain away jersey by Nike for the 2018/19 season.
Kylian Mbappe and Neymar Jr model the new away gold away jersey for French Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain.
International sportswear giants Nike on Thursday, July 26 released the new away kit for the new campaign.
Mbappe who had a fantastic showing at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia which he helped France win modeled the new jersey with a significant change in his jersey number 29 from last season to number seven.
Under new manager Thomas Tuchel Paris Saint Germain will aim to win their eighth league title in the club’s history.
Tuchel will be tasked with sweeping all the domestic trophies just as his predecessor new Arsenal boss Unai Emery did in his last season but with an aim to go further in the UEFA Champions League.
Speaking about the concept behind the new kit, Nike Football Apparel Senior Design Director Pete Hoppins revealed that the inspiration for the new attire is derived from the records create by the current crop of players.
He said, “Anyone who has been to Paris will understand the beauty and power of its many monuments.
“This kit can become synonymous with a triumphant era for PSG and the memories the current squad is creating."
A statement on the Nike website best describes the design, colour attributes, and inspiration for the new kit.
It reads, "In a nod to French fashion, the shirt’s stylish v-neck fastens at center. At the nape of the neck, a small Fleur-de-lis provides a reminder of Gallic pride and passion. Inside the shirt, a small symbol pays tribute to the Arc de Triomphe.”
The new away jersey is unlike the home kit which combines the traditional colours of the club and is already available at the Nike and club stores.
