Salisu Yusuf: NFF to investigate bribery case against Super Eagles coach

The NFF administration will not sack Salisu Yusuf until an in-depth investigation in conducted.

The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) will investigate the bribery case against Super Eagles coach Salisu Yusuf.

Salisu was filmed on tape collecting money from a BBC investigative reporter, which has brought about accusations of bribery.

Since the release of the video footage, there have been calls for the sack of the Super Eagles and national U-23 team coach.

 

However, in a report by the BBC, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi the General Secretary of the NFF has stated that there will be an inquest into what actually happened before any decision is made.

 

The allegations of receiving money to included player in the Super Eagles team for the 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN) has to be properly investigated according to Dr. Sansusi.

He said "There is no official position yet on the bribery allegation against Salisu Yusuf who is one of our national team coaches. You know this kind of thing, you have to be careful in order not to complicate matters.

"The only thing I can say for now is that we are setting up an internal mechanism to look into the matter. We are not going to sweep it under the carpet.

"The allegation is serious and will be given all the necessary attention. The NFF on its part has always done its best to meet up with all financial obligations to its coaches."

Salisu who part of the coaching crew to the 2018 FIFA World Cup has already been backed by the Nigeria Football Coaches Association.
